Dictatorship or Anarchy? The Future of America?

Perhaps all they want is the pursuit of money and power. That is a (seemingly) very clear and logical conclusion to draw from the shameless law-breaking, war-profiteering, and highly illegal scandals perpetrated by high-level Republican congressmen and administration officials. However, how do we explain the continual and very effective painting of all government in this country as inept and inherently bad for the United States by Republicans? Think. Hurricane Katrina provided yet another example for the American people of how government fails it's citizens. What if instead of the sole pursuit of money and power, or as another facet of their plan, they intend to plunge the United States into dictatorship? Bush has set the stage for just this to occur. With the recent broadening of the FISA Law, it is now possible for our government to spy on American citizens WITHOUT ANY WARRANT WHATSOEVER! The Imperial Administration already claims the right to ignore Congressional Subpoenas, hide information damaging to them under the cloak of national security and Executive Privilege, and perhaps worst of all, to hold ANY AMERICAN CITIZEN INDEFINITELY simply by classifying them as an "Enemy Combatant".
What does all this mean for our freedoms? Well, what freedoms do we have anymore? Our government has already taken away our 4th and 5th Amendment Rights via the FISA Law. The Government can take away your right to Freedom of Speech by forcing you to protest in designated "Free Speech Zones" often miles away from where the opposing candidate is speaking. And who sets these "Free Speech Zones"? None other than our own Government.
Now, I'm sure this is getting very "conspiracy-y". Sure. But what other conclusion are we to draw from the growing powers of the Executive Branch, while the other branches rot away, all power stripped from them in the name of National Security?
What if this wasn't a set-up for dictatorship, but instead a method of creating anarchy here in the United States? Our government wants to make us have to rise up in rebellion (sic) causing mass anarchy. Perhaps not. Maybe it is after another attack that this government will use all the tools it has reserved for itself to turn this democracy into a militaristic police state. Excuse me, MORE of a militaristic police state.

A democracy cannot flourish without the will of the people being represented FULLY at the highest levels of government, and without an informed public holding corrupt individuals accountable. Until the latter occurs, nothing will change our course to hell in a handbasket.
